Be part of your Alumni Association!A message from the President, Mark H. Anbinder '89 Summer 2007
Welcome, Alumni and Friends! We've had an absolutely wonderful year, and we're delighted at how many new faces made it to such varied events as International Spirit of Zinck's at the Ithaca Ale House last fall and a guided tour of the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art this spring. If you haven't been to a Cornell Alumni Association of the Ithaca Area event lately, I hope you'll make a point of joining us for one soon. This summer, we've just finished reprising last year's successful series of events to benefit the club's Arlene Sadd '32 Memorial Tradition Fellowship, a scholarship that is awarded to a Cornell undergraduate student from Tompkins County. We raised over $1,800 for our scholarship through three unique events last year, and an early count suggests we just about doubled that with this summer's events. If you would like to host an event or have a suggestion for next year, please contact our Scholarship Chair. The Annual Announcement you're holding in your hands is our main mailing of the year, sent not just to CAAIA members but to over 3,400 alumni in the Ithaca area. To confirm your membership status, check the enclosed membership list. If you have an asterisk by your name, you have at least one year left on your multi-year dues payment. If you don't have an asterisk, your membership has expired this summer, so be sure to return the completed membership form to renew, or consider a Lifetime Membership and you'll never have to wonder if your membership is up to date again! If your name isn't listed at all, we invite you to join the Cornell Alumni Association of the Ithaca Area by filling out and sending in your membership form today. Throughout the year, invitations and registration flyers for specific events will be mailed to dues-paying CAAIA members only, and members will get priority reservation privileges and discounts on some event fees. Many events will also have an e-mail reminder to all alumni that we have a working e-mail address for. If you have received e-mails from the Office of Alumni Affairs about our events in the past year, you are on that list. If not, be sure to update your profile with Alumni Affairs calling the office at 255-2390 or through the Cornell Alumni web site at www.alumni.cornell.edu. Please take special notice of two of our upcoming fall events: our first event of the fall will be held at the McConville Horse Barn, and Zinck's Night will once again be at the Ithaca Ale House for appetizers (on the club) and drinks (on your own). We will be offering one year of free club membership to every recent graduate (2002-2007) who attends either of these events and fills out a membership form. If you have suggestions for future events, or would like to host an event, by all means let us know. Please keep an eye on the CAAIA web site for current events, and by all means join us for what promises to be another exciting year for the Cornell Alumni Association of the Ithaca Area. We hope to see you soon! Be sure to visit & bookmark our website: http://ithaca.alumni.cornell.edu more info on upcoming events. |
